ACT Media - 5 Noiembrie 2009
On November 4, 2009, took place the official opening of The "Romanian British Expo" Fair, organized by Publications UK, with the support of the Embassy of Romania in London, the Romanian-British Chamber of Commerce, United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI), British Expertise and the Regional Development Agency for Bucharest and Ilfov Agricultural District.
There are present more than 25 prominent representatives of the Romanian economy. The Romanian British Expo Fair aims to further expand bilateral relations and strengthen business-level cooperation between Romania and Great Britain, to foster new business opportunities and confirm existing partnerships, to help promote products and services offered by Romanian companies on the British market. The Fair's agenda also includes an impressive array of workshops meant to inform, instruct and answer questions from investors interested in Romania. In the opening remarks, Mrs. Irinel Cristu, Secretary of state from the Romania's Ministry of SME's, Trade and Business Environment, present at the event together with a delegation including and representatives of Romanian Foreign Investment Council, highlighted that: "With Romania receiving over €30 billion worth of EU funded project opportunities, there has never been a better time to attend an event like this. The growth opportunities in Romania are sustainable even under present circumstances of a global recession."
Addressing to the audience, the Ambassador of Romania, Dr Ion Jinga, underlined: "During a crisis period, doing business is a challenge. The world is still in recession, Europe too, and unfortunately, Romania and Great Britain are not exceptions from these global developments. Nevertheless, the turning point out of recession is close. To restore the growth, the world leaders gathered in Pittsburgh, last September. The EU leaders, also, gathered in Brussels, last week, to find common "exit strategies". Romania, as a member of EU and of the world community, is trying to find its way out of the crisis. For stimulating the growth, the potential of Romania needs to be put into real value. For this, in my opinion, at least 3 basic prerequisites are available in Romania: money, people and natural resources."
Key Speakers also included: Lesley Batchelor, International Chairman, Institute of Export (UK), Richard Harris, International Director, ITS UK, John Slate, director for Europe, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Brian Davies, Chairman, British Romanian Chamber of Commerce, Elsa Fairbanks, Sector Specialist, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).The fair is open November 4-5 at the prestigious Olympia Exhibition Centre in London.
