Credit-related losses - 8.5 pct in none months

Credits classified as losses account for 8.5 percent of the total credits in nine months, compared to 3.6 percent in the same period of last year, announced on Tuesday Romania's National Bank (BNR) Vice governor Florin Georgescu.
Doubtful credits reached a 2.8 percent level in nine months, from 1.2 percent in the similar period of 2008 and sub-standard credits accounted for 7.4 percent of the total of loans till Sept. 2009, from 5.3 percent in the similar period of 2008.
According to BNR data, total credit default on nine months 2009 rose 2.1-fold and 2.45-fold in annual terms.
Non-repaid loans also rose by 4.3 percent in Sept., in monthly terms and 18.3 percent from June.
The value of overdue credits in lei stood at 3.8 billion lei on Sept. 30, up 5 percent from August and 17 percent from June.
As for the foreign currency credits, the overdue credits totaled 2.7 billion lei (denominated), on Sept. 30, 4.5-fold higher than in the similar month in 2008.
The balance of credits stood at the end of the first nine months at 200.2 billion lei, up 0.5 percent from December 2008 and 0.6 percent as against the end of the first half of the year.
