CEI Summit takes place in Bucharest over Nov. 12 - 13

The Central European Initiative Summit takes place in Bucharest over Nov. 12 - 13, bringing together Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of the 18 member states, as well as senior representatives of international financial institutions.
The day of Thursday, Nov. 12, is devoted to the Foreign Ministers meeting, with Italy's ForMin Franco Frattini, Serbian chief diplomat Vuk Jeremic and the freshly installed Moldovan ForMin Iurie Leanca attending, among others.
Friday is devoted to the CEI Summit, with Prime Ministers invited to attend, but a number of the organization's member states will be represented at vice-Premier level.
Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat will be visiting Bucharest for the first time since his taking over at the helm of the government; he announced that a meeting with President Traian Basescu and interim Prime Minister Emil Boc is on his agenda. The head of the Chisinau government expressed hope that the convention between the two countries on the local border traffic might be signed on this occasion.
Between January 1 - December 31, 2009, Romania holds the Presidency of the Central European Initiative in its first term at the head of the organization since it acquired CEI membership in 1996; this is also the fist time that is chairs a regional cooperation structure in its capacity as a European Union member.
Holding the CEI presidency implies the organization and hosting of high-level events that include the November 12 - 13 Foreign Ministers Meeting and CEI Summit.
