Mutual commercial exchange between Slovakia and Romania

Romania remains for Slovakia an attractive market. The commercial exchange between Romania and Slovakia has been since 2003 and active balance of trade.

For 2008 the active figure was 558 million euros. The mutual business figure for 2008 is about 1.3 billion euros. Compared to the same period of 2008, the mutual business figure between Slovakia and Romania in the first 6 months of 2009 dropped by an index of 60.4.In the export from Slovakia to Romania iron and steel dominated (14.5%), electric equipment (14.3%), cars, parts and accessories (12.4%). The main products imported from Romania to Slovakia were electric equipment (36.5%), footwear (14.2%), cars, parts and accessories (11.4%).

Until the month of July there were 292 commercial companies with Slovak capital or joint capital in Romania. The most successful year as concerns the registration of Slovak companies was 2007 with 57 companies registered. Slovakia ranked 40 for the number of companies in Romania. According to the investment volume (in USD) Slovakia ranks 61st and reaches an investment volume of 5,755,28 thousand USD. The most successful year for investments made by Slovak companies in Romania was 2008 with an investment volume of 1,813.46 thousand USD.
