French investors in light industry, computing interested in Cluj area
Agerpres - 17 Noiembrie 2009
Mayor of the central-western Cluj-Napoca city Sorin Apostu said after meeting Michel Oldenburg, the director of Ubifrance economic mission at France's embassy to Romania, on Monday that several French investors, in light industry and information technology chiefly, are interested in making investments in the area.
'We are open to any investors, the more so since to become a destination for a new foreign investment is a remarkable thing at such difficult times for the economy. The French investors' interest in the potential offered by Cluj-Napoca once more confirms that the main resource we have is also the most valuable, namely the highly skilled labour', Apostu said after meeting Oldenburg and Ubifrance project manager Daniela Vladica.
Ubifrance officials also asked to be given information about the future medium- and long-term development strategy of Cluj-Napoca and Cluj county.
France ranks 8th among the countries having invested in Cluj, by the underwritten capital, with as many as 199 French companies operating in the area, among which Michelin Plant at Floresti, BRD-Groupe Societe Generale, Soditex, Orange, Energom, Cora and Groupama.
