Public-private partnership could be forged for exploiting mineral resources

The state could exploit mineral resources through public-private partnership, by means of the National Agency for Mineral Resources, a series of collaborations may be starting from March, stated Economy, Trade and Business Environment Minister Adriean Videanu, during the hearings of the Specialized Parliamentary Commissions for the endorsement of the institution's budget, on Wednesday.
'We want to initiate a public-private partnership at the end of March through which we shall be able to exploit mineral resources. We have an extraordinary potential and by collaborating with the National Agency for Mineral Resources we can initiate projects in order to become an important source for export', Videanu said.
The sum provided for the public policy on mineral resources amounts to 495.3 million lei, for 2010, according to the draft budget of the Economy, Trade and Business Environment Ministry.
The ministry's draft budget for 2010, amounting to 2.08 billion lei, was favourably endorsed on Wednesday with 38 votes for, six votes against and one abstention, on behalf of the Joint Specialized Parliamentary Commissions.
The amount allocated to public policies funded by the 2010 draft budget in this sector is of 1.36 billion lei.
