BNR's reference exchange rate plunges to the minimum level of the past year, of 4.1167 lei/euro

Romania's national currency, the leu, began to regain ground and reached a reference exchange rate of 4.1167 lei per euro according to the central lender BNR, the minimum level of the past year, 0.3 percent below the one announced in the previous session, although overnight interests remain low.
The central bank last reported such a steep reference level on January 7 2009, when the euro was traded for 4.0720 lei.
BNR yesterday posted an exchange rate of 4.1286 lei per euro.
