Romanians' appetite for investments is ranked by age categories
Agerpres - 18 Ianuarie 2010
According to a study on the Romanians' investment behaviour during the downturn, a slightly greater number of men compared to women say that they made investments in 2009 (28.9 pct vs. 22.2 pct), Financiarul daily writes.
The study conducted by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy highlights that the tendency for investments is more obvious at the persons aged between 18 to 35 at 43.1 percent, followed by the ones aged between 36 to 50 at 29.9 percent, those aged between 51 to 65 at 20.7 percent and over 65 at 8.1 percent. Consequently, it can be noticed that while the respondents's age increases, the tendency to make investments drops by approximately 35 percent.
Education is another factor that influences the Romanians' investment behaviour: 10.5 percent of the persons with elementary studies make investments, followed by 27.2 percent of the ones with high-school studies and 37.5 percent of the ones with higher education.
The fewest investments were made by pensioners (a fact that is confirmed by the age distribution) at 14.9 percent, and most investments were made by the higher-education employees at 37.7 percent.
Among the persons that did not invest in 2009, the ones who state to a larger extent that they are going to invest are the ones with elementary studies at 34.5 percent, followed by the ones with high-school education at 22.8 percent and the higher education graduates at 7.3 percent.
