Blue Air carrier reports over 140 million euros in estimated 2009 turnover, 50pc increase in passenger traffic
Agerpres - 28 Ianuarie 2010
Blue Air low-cost carrier recorded an estimated 140-150 million-euro business turnover in 2009 and a rise of 55 percent in passenger traffic, from 1.1 million in 2008 to 1.71 million in 2009, Blue Air General Manager Adrian Ionascu reported on Thursday.
'2009 witnessed a rise of 55 percent in the number of passengers and the business turnover, but the final profit will be some hundreds of thousands of euros or one million at the most, but we can say that we weathered well the year of crisis,' Ionascu said.
He added that Blue Air is contemplating a 2010 business turnover of 200 million euros and 2.2 million passengers.
'Based on the economic growth forecasts, we believe air traffic will be up two percent. We will continue to diversify our services and flights and rejuvenate our fleet with state-of-the art aircraft,' said Ionascu.
Blue Air is the only smart flying company running on 100 percent Romanian private capital authorised to operate regular local and international charter flights on demand and cargo flights.
The company, which was a pioneer of low-cost flights taking off from the Baneasa Airport, is expecting to carry nearly 1.7 million passengers this year.
