FinMin Vladescu: The new Eurobond issue will be released in one month
ACTMedia - 11 Februarie 2010
The next Eurobond issue to be released by Romania for the foreign capital market will be out in one month's time, at the latest, when the market conditions have improved, says Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu.
Early this year, Vladescu said the Eurobond issue will be worth less than 1 billion euro and it will be released as soon as possible, probably after the revision mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Eurobond issue was initially scheduled for October 2009, but because of the then political crisis, it was postponed until 2010.Before the downfall of the Boc Cabinet on a vote of no-confidence, the Finance Ministry had planned to issue Eurobonds for external markets in October 2009 worth between 500 million euros and 1.5 billion euros maturing in between 5 and 10 years. The 2010 strategy of the Finance Ministry is aimed at raising money from the local and the external markets, and it will test the 10-year market for RON-denominated Government bonds.
