Romanians no longer buy houses and cars but won’t give up vacations
ACTMedia - 5 Martie 2010
Romanians intend to significantly cut their expenses in 2010, most of them giving up buying houses, cars, electric appliances or furniture, but will not give up vacations, one out of two Romanians planning to go on a holiday, according to a study made by the research company 360 insights.
'Romanians from the urban area consider 2010 hesitatingly and do not plan to make too many major investments. So, their expense list for this year does not include houses or buying cars. Household appliances or furniture are not of great interest either. However, wisdom is no longer applied when it comes to holidays. One out of two Romanians say they will not give up their holiday this year,' the study shows. Of the people interviewed 7% said they intended to buy a house in 2010, 8% a car and 15% household appliances or furniture.
According to the source quoted, five out ten people who decided to go on a holiday will use local
tourism, three out of ten will go abroad and two out of ten want to spend their vacation both in Romania and abroad. 'Persons with a high education and income level who can afford the luxury of a relaxing break are among those who want to have a vacation, while those with small incomes say they would rather give up this expense this year. Regardless of income, young people under the age of 24 say they would not consider delaying their vacation,' said Manuela Danila, senior researcher at 360 insights.
On the other hand, almost one out of four Romanians, most of them with a small income, say they intend to change their job this year with a better one.
At the same time, 8% of Romanians from the urban area intend to make a bank loan in 2010, choosing credits for small amounts for personal needs and less for real estate or mortgages.
The study was made by 360 insights, a company of integrated research and marketing consulting services. The results were obtained based on centralized answers from 800 persons, men and women, aged between 16 and 64 from the urban area in February 2010.
