ACTMedia - 15 Martie 2010
The Romania market is of big interest to Russia, advisor at the Russian Federation's Embassy in Bucharest Igor Sidorov said, on Friday, on the special occasion of the conference approaching the topic of Romania's possibility to become an energy knot of European importance.
'We are interested in the Romanian market, proof that important Russian companies such as LukOil, Gazprom, TMK, Mechel, Ruski Aluminium work here,' the Russian diplomat said, stressing that Gazprom annually supplies about 5 billion cu.m natural gas to the Romanian market, and the cooperation between the Company and the Romanian partners have been lasting for 30 years, and 100 billion cu.m methane were delivered to Romania over this time span.
Likewise, the Russian Federation yearly exports 5 million tonnes crude, and 2 million tones coal, to Romania. The official Russian investments amount to 4.5 million dollars and round 300 small bilateral joint ventures are operational on the Romanian market. But big companies among which LukOil, TMK, Mechel or Ruski Aluminium came to Romania through their branches in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and the investments are registered as coming from those states, although their share capital is Russian.
'The real Russian investments in Romania exceed one billion and a half USD,' Sidorov said. For the two years ahead, Mechel plans to invest 100 million USD, while TMK wants to invest 50 million USD in Romania, in the immediately coming time.Ruski Aluminium views investments worth 600 million USD to have an electricity power station built in Romania.
'In my opinion, the Russian investments in Romanian are to double, over the coming five, six year s. And on the other hand, the Romanian investors should be more present on the Russian market, and set up joint ventures there, and I invite the Romanian companies to come and invest in the Russian market, because it is only this way that the bilateral Russian-Romanian economic relations can develop,' Sidorov concluded.
