Romania hosts international meeting on tourism for first time
Agerpres - 16 Martie 2010
More than one hundred guests from 38 member regions of the Committee of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) take part in a three-day event in the central Alba Iulia city to discuss the European Tourism Amid the Economic Crisis and how can the regions use sustainability for stability.
From Tuesday till Thursday, The Route of the Three Fortresses in Alba Iulia is the venue of an international gathering staged in Romania for the first time, to be attended by guests from 18 European countries, respected officials from the European tourist bodies and from the European Parliament.
AER has been operating in tourism for several years and it covers all the aspects of tourist sustainability. It plays a decisive role in ensuring the competitiveness with the other economic sectors, given the people's tendency to spend less at times of downturn.
The Alba Iulia conference will debate the downturn impact on the European tourism and the chances to reach a balance between the development of tourism and the environmental protection.
