Mother-banks pump more than EUR 285m in the Romanian subsidiaries in 2009, data show

Capital infusions from abroad in the lenders activating on the local market exceeded 285 million euros last year, 70 percent up from 2008, according to data of the Trade Registry Office (ONRC).
These amounted to 168 million euros in 2008.
Bancpost received the highest capital infusion last year, of 164.35 million euros, and was followed by Banca Romaneasca with a total injection of over 43.5 million euros and Millennium Bank Romania, with 33.9 million euros.
CR Firenze Romania, Garanti Bank, UniCredit Tiriac Bank, Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte, MKB Romexterra Bank and BCR Banca pentru Locuinte also drew capital infusions from the mother-banks.
Banks' solvency index rose to 14.03 percent at the end of last year, from 13.73 percent at the end of September 2009 and from 13.51 percent in mid-2009, as the central lender BNR demands a minimum level of 8 percent and recommends a level of 10 percent.
In 2009, the companies activating on the local financial market sponged capital injections of 813.9 million euros, 46 percent up from the end of 2008, when these amounted to 558 million euros, data from ONRC show.
