Gov't securities worth 40 million euros traded on BVB in the week ending on March 21
Agerpres - 22 Martie 2010
The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) has reported trade worth RON 160.27 million (nearly 40 million euros) in Government securities in the week ending on March 21.
Intercapital Invest brokerage firm says BVB total liquidity stood at RON 340.02 million, up 46 percent from the previous week. The weigh of Government securities in total dealings was 47 percent.
The banking and finance sector contributed 57 percent of total trade, and the oil sector 15 percent. The most liquid stocks were the SIF Oltenia securities (19 percent of total trade) and Petrom (12 percent of total trade).
The market for Government securities will win a bigger share of the trade on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), BVB Chairman Stere Farmache said recently, mentioning to the point record dealings of tens of millions of euros in such securities.
'The Government's need for financing is increasing by the day, and the market for Government securities will win a bigger share in the economics of the BVB. It has small operational costs, yet it is not well known by the banking institutions. I hope it will draw in big players,' said Farmache.
He mentioned that this market is by definition a market where large packages are traded, but which liquidity is in a state of flux.
