Romania Climbs One Notch To 80th In WB Purchasing Power Top

Romania edged up one notch to 80th in a global ranking by purchasing power parity, a World Bank survey showed Tuesday. In its 2010 World Development Indicators (WDI) report, the international lender noted Romania's purchasing power parity increased to $13,380 per capita in 2008 from $12,350 per capita a year earlier.
Similar purchasing power parities are observed in Turkey, Malaysia, Botswana or Argentina, the report showed.Romania also ranks 80th in a classification based on the national gross income per capita, which stood at $8,280 in 2008. As to the country's gross income, Romania won three places to 41 in the global ranking. The World Bank's report comprises data on 155 countries whose population exceeds one million citizens.
