Gathering of SEPA National Forum held at BNR
Agerpres - 28 Aprilie 2010
Over 150 representatives of the financial and banking system and of the business environment in Romania participated on Wednesday in the first gathering of the SEPA National Forum, an event organized by the central bank and by the Romanian Banks Association, informs the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
The SEPA National Forum is an advisory body, consisting of representatives of the business environment, of the professional organizations and associations, as well as of the national banking system, which was created with the purpose of supporting the implementation of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) in Romania.
During the gathering, which was chaired by BNR First Vice-Governor Florin Georgescu and by president of the Romanian Banks Association Radu Gratian Ghetea, they presented the SEPA project as well as the advantages offered to the payment services users and this project's implementation stage at European and national level.
SEPA, a concept developed by the European Central Bank and by the European Commission, is a euro zone where all the payments, including cross-border payments, are treated as national payments, without making the current difference between national payments and cross-border payments. The single area will be the result of the development of payment instruments, standards, common procedures and infrastructure.
