CNIPMMR chairman: There are 8,000 less SMEs in Q1, 2010
ACTMedia - 3 Mai 2010
The number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) shrank by more than 8,000 in the first quarter of 2010, Chairman of the National Council of Private Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Romania (CNIPMMR) Ovidu Nicolescu told a news conference on Friday.
'We have noticed that in April 2010 we had 8,000 less companies, particularly in the areas of construction and services that closed down. That means some tens of thousands of unemployed people and dropping tax revenues,' said Nicolescu.
At a meeting on April 29 of Romanian employers and officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Nicolescu submitted to the IMF a list of anti-crisis measures the Romanian Government and the IMF should consider.
The employers asked that any normative act be accompanied by an impact and social note, that the Government and Parliament focus on several economic priorities, such as boosting investment by revising the investment legislations, setting IMF and European Union loan money aside for economic investment only, and that the law on public-private partnerships as well as the law on business holding be rapidly adopted.
