ACTMedia - 4 Mai 2010
Asked about what auto producer could come to Romania, Silvian Ionescu, the general commissionaire of the National Environment Guard said ' Tata is a big competitor on the market of auto producers and I don't think Tata gave up the Romanian market.
I cannot confirm but, as you know, during last year they manifested their interest. There is enough specialized working force in Romania to face the third make produced in the country'. At the same time, the chairman of the Association for Auto Builders in Romania (ACAROM) Constantin Stroe, said without giving any names that there is a car producer who wants to come to Romania. « There are signals that the third car builder is interested in Romania, which would mean a potential for development for assemblers' Stroe said.
Last year, Daimler preferred Hungary to Romania as a destination for a new factory, where they will build the new generations of A and B class from Mercedes-Benz. We lost an investment of 800 million euro and 2,500 working places.
Tata Motors is one of the car builders who showed its interest for Daewoo Automobile Romania in 2007 -2008. In Romania, the Indian producer Tata Motors is present through Isotlar Motors which is the director importer of the make on a local level, distributing vehicles and parts. The make has a network of 8 dealers in the country. The Tata models available on the Romanian market are SUV Safari Dicor at a price of 18,300 euro with VAT and the van 4X4 Telcoline with Euro4 engine, 2.2 diesel 140 HP at a price of 9,900 euro with VAT for 4x2 and 10,900 euro with VAT for 4x4.

In 2008, the Tata Motors acquired Jaguar and Land Rover having a big impact on the auto market and they also have 21% of Hispano Carrocera, a big company which produces buses in Spain.
The Tata owns the shares of Daewoo commercial autos, being number 2 as truck production in Korea. At the same time, in 2006, a joint company with Marcopolo was founded, the company with Brazilian origin.
Tata Motors produced a very big impact on the auto market in January 2008 when they presented the cheapest vehicle: Tata Nano, and at present they will launch an electric vehicle, which will be produced with Miljo Grenland from Norway, this being possible by the acquisition of the majority package of the Miljo Grenland by Tata Motors.
