ACTMedia - 27 Mai 2010
Turkey and Romania will be organizing the 24. Session of Turkish-Romanian Joint Economic Committee Meeting on 27-28 May 2010 in Bucharest under the Co-Chairmanship of H.E. Sadullah Ergin, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey and H.E. Catalin Predoiu, Minister of Justice of Romania; in an attempt to revitalize our commercial exchanges, as well as to explore new opportunities of collaboration.
In the fringes of the Joint Economic Cooperation Meeting, Turkish-Romanian Business Forum will be held on 28 May 2010 in Howard Johnson Hotel, Bucharest, with the participation of Turkish and Romanian businessmen, high ranking Romanian officials and local banks, with the aim of providing a platform for a direct exchange of information on possible joint projects and specific avenues of cooperation, such as energy, transport, construction, tourism, health and investments.
In the past years, the relations between Turkey and Romania enhanced rapidly in every field to reach unprecedented levels. Romania is now a major economic collaborator and the largest trading partner for Turkey in the region. On the other hand, there is still a vast untapped potential to expand and diversify our cooperation in various fields.
According to the press release sent by the Turkish Embassy in Bucharest, our trade volume which has exceeded 7,5 billion Dollars in 2008 registered a %40 drop due to the global financial and economic downturn. Before the global economic crisis, Turkey and Romania targeted to reach a trade volume of 10 billion Dollars. We remain convinced that the good use of the potential for further collaboration in the commercial and economic spheres will lead our countries to our common economic and commercial targets, and beyond.
