CEC Bank opens 40 offices to facilitate absorption of European funds
Agerpres - 3 Iunie 2010
CEC Bank has started to open in its 40 county branches offices to facilitate the absorption of European money, the chairman of this banking institution, Radu Gratian Ghetea, said on Thursday.
The official also added that the bank continues thus to support the absorption of European funds, a few hundreds of loans from co-financing having been granted so far.
'The CEC Bank loans brought in Romania grants totaling 200 million euros,' said Ghetea.
As chairman of the Romanian Association of Banks (ARB), Radu Gratian Ghetea appreciated that the Romanian banking system has survived during the crisis because, due to the shareholders who brought funds when needed, but also with the help of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), which maintained the balance, sometimes even by using 'unpopular measures.' Moreover, ARB had a contribution too, by pleading before authorities for the interests of the industry.
In his opinion, Romania will not grow in the next decade just on domestic saving.
'There is need of an infusion of foreign capital to support a sustainable growth of the Romanian economy,' he said.
