Romania comes 54th among 58, in terms of competitiveness
Agerpres - 16 Iunie 2010
Romania keeps ranking the 54th of the 58 economies analyzed in the world's competitiveness top, earning 47.481 points from 100 possibly, informs the release the that the Romanian Institute of Economic and Social Research and Polls (IRECSON), the partner for Romania of the Switzerland-based Center of the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, sent, on Wednesday.
The fact that Romania has kept its position in 2010 is the result of its development in each of the four competitiveness factors. Thus, in 2010 Romania registered a decrease in its economic performance, coming the 47th, instead of the 32nd as in 2009.
In terms of its governmental efficiency Romania went one position lower in 2010 compared to 2009, ranking the 50th, and the 43rd, in terms of the infrastructure, going ten places up compared to the previous year. As for its business efficiency, our country ranks the 49th, in this year, by 13 places higher than in 2009 when it came the 56th.
The weak points Romania showed in the consolidation of its business environment are the high demand in finance experts, the requirement to grow the Romanian companies' adjustment capability to the market changes, the requirement to increase the transparency of the Romanian financial institutions, the decrease in the stock exchange market as well as the failure in finding solutions so that the debts should not limit the companies' competitiveness.
The negative aspects in Romania's economic performance are related to the lack of the direct investments and the investments in the capital markets abroad, the revenues in the tourism and the GDP real growth.
The weak points in the ruling's efficiency, in 2010, are particularly related to the lack of the public agreements' openness to all the bidders, in the black market, which stems the development of the economy and the laws on competition, and which fails stopping the unloyal competition.
