Small cross-border traffic accord, between Romania and Serbia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Baconschi and the Serbian Deputy premier and Minister of interior, Ivica Dacic, have convened on Thursday, in Belgrade, the conclusion of an agreement on the small cross-border traffic and consolidation of bilateral cooperation in the field of combating the drug traffic and illegal emigration, MAE informs.
The small cross-border traffic allows residents in both countries, after having lived for one year at least in a locality close to the border, usually within a distance of 50-km, to visit the other country without visas.Romania also concluded such an agreement, at the beginning of this year, with the Republic of Moldova.
During the talks the Romanian Foreign Minister and the Serbian Deputy premier have approached the Romanian side concern related to the elections for the setting up of the national minorities councils (June 6). Baconschi reiterated during his visit Romania's interest in the opening of a consulate general in Zajecar locality.
