Mariana Gheorghe, new president of Foreign Investors Council

The Council of Foreign Investors (CIS) has a new president in the person of OMV/Petrom president-director general Mariana Gheorghe, CIS informs in a release remitted on Friday.

Mariana Gheorghe is taking over CIS presidency from the president of the United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB) Shachar Shaine.

CIS board is formed of 15 managers and has as its main goal CIS more in-depth involvement into consultations and dialogue with the main economic players, prior to the elaboration and adoption of new laws and normative acts.

CIS was set up in 1997, the number of member companies rising since then from 26 to 118. CIS members cumulated investments in Romania is up to 30 billion euros, respectively two thirds of the total of foreign direct investments since 1990 till present.CIS members have 224,000 employees and contribute to some 30 percent of Romania's GDP.
