'New trends in French investments in Romania'
ACTMedia - 9 Iulie 2010
Over 100 companies running on French capital will invest in Romania this year, especially in the industrial sector, Michel Oldenburg, commercial counselor with the French Embassy in Bucharest told a seminar on French-Romanian economic ties held on Wednesday, July 7.
'The economic sector has a good performance in Romania and is the one that generates opportunities for foreign investments. Romania is an attractive market to France on this segment. French exports to Romania amount to 2.4 billion euros at present. French exports gained 15 percent in the first quarter this year compared to 2009, while Romania's exports to France hiked by 30 percent throughout this period, mainly due to the Dacia Duster model. We wish to consolidate our partnerships with Romania and to expand them by taking part in various events organized by Romexpo with a national stand,' Michel Oldenburg told the symposium 'New trends in French investments in Romania' organized by the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Representatives of the French business environment pointed out the downturn period should not be used as a pretext for suspending investments. In fact, the promulgation of the Law on the public-private partnership in Romania has generated new business opportunities for the French companies.
'The French Chamber of Commerce in Industry in Romania receives inquiries about the local investment environment each day, there are many small and medium-sized enterprises interested in finding new investment opportunities. The major problem faced by each country that wants to draw investments is infrastructure, especially the one available in the transport sector. The law on the public-private partnership can have beneficial effects for Romania on this segment,' said Bruno Roche, president of the French chamber and general manager of Apa Nova Bucuresti.
Tourism, especially the spa tourism, research, food product processing, airspace are some of the areas Romania and France may develop joint projects and investments, according to Sorin Dimitriu, Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman, Agerpres informs.
