An IMF mission arrives in Bucharest on Monday

An IMF mission headed by Jeffry Franks will be in Bucharest over 26 July – 4 August 2010. According to the conclusion of the fifth evaluation of the stand-by accord with Romania, the delivery of the sixth installment of 769 million SDR, about 900 million euro will be made two days after the approval of the IMF Executive Board.

The IMF visit will take place at the same time with the European Commission and World Bank teams, said the IMF representative for Romania and Bulgaria, Tonny Lybek.

Upon ANAF request, a technical assistance mission of the IMF fiscal affairs department was be in Bucharest between 14 and 28 July to counsel ANAF experts about measures to improve income collecting. The IMF team of fiscal experts headed by Thomas Martin Story reviewed the stage of recommendations made last year by a similar team.Romania's financial assistance program of over 200 billion euro is backed by IMF ('3.6 billion euro), CE (5 billion euro), World Bank (1 billion euro) and other international financiers. Until now Romania has received 10.7 billion euro from IMF, 2.5 billion euro from EU and 300 million euro from the World Bank.
