Gov't adopts norms for enforcement of Tax Code amendments
ACTMedia - 3 August 2010
The government adopted on Monday the methodological norms for the enforcement of the amendments to the Tax Code, the government's spokesperson Ioana Muntean announced.
The application norms for recent amendments to the Fiscal Code extends the tax pool and introduce social security contributions for income gained from copyright. The Government decided in a meeting last week to delay the adoption of the application norms and submit them to public debate, with a view to adopting the norms on August 2. The Executive also decided that people who own a record of employment and gain copyright income only occasionally will not pay social security contributions for the income obtained from copyright.
The amendments to the Fiscal Code stipulate that people earning income from work for which contributions to the unemployment aid system are not currently mandatory shall be required to contribute to the social security and unemployment aid systems. Furthermore, people earning income through work which is subject to taxation contributing to the social security, healthcare and unemployment systems will also be required to contribute to the public pension system.
Individual contributions will not be required of people insured in other systems which are not integrated into the public pension system, nor of Romanian citizens working abroad.
The Government approved in June an ordinance amending the Fiscal Code, which introduced a series of additional taxes and duties with the view to increasing budget revenues.
