ACTMedia - 3 August 2010
The profile of the Romanian internet user has changed from 2009, with the Romanian Internet being dominated by women between the ages of 20-24, according to the findings of a trafic.ro Demographic Studies campaign .
The campaign was conducted May 25 - June 20 and involved 2058 Romanian websites as well as a representative sample of 42,000 respondents.
In 2010, the gender war is won by women (53 percent), approximately 6 percent higher versus the male Internet users (47 percent). Of all respondents, 50 percents are not married, outnumbering those who prefer the marriage institution or those who live with a partner (44 percent).
As in 2009, the ranking is dominated by the 20-24 age bracket (22 percent), followed by the 25-29 age bracket (16 percent), the 30-34 age bracket (14 percent) and the 40-49 bracket (14 percent). The extreme age brackets form the smallest part of the respondents, ie the under-14 group (3 percent) and the over-60 group (2 percent).
In 2010, those with higher educational attainment are holding the biggest share - college graduates 34 percent and those with post-graduate studies, 15 percent. This is reflected by the positions they hold - 26 percent of them are managers at various levels and 24 percent are students.
Regarding Internet consumption habits, Romanian users log on at least once (90 percent), most of the time from their homes (90 percent) and from work (34 percent).
When surfing the web, the attention of both sexes is directed in 72 percent of cases towards online newspapers or magazines, online communities - 53 percent, job sites - 43 percent and auto sites - 31 percent.
While offline, the Romanian user is interested in fields such as medicine, health and eating (46 percent), followed by Romanian news and current events (45 percent), family and couple life (37 percent), tourism and travelling (40 percent).
In their spare time, the majority of the users prefer home activities: web surfing (70 percent) and watching TV (60 percent), to spending time with their family (59 percent) or going out (54 percent).
