The Ministry of Public Finance (MPF) on Monday drew over EUR 300 mn (RON 1.27 bn) in an issue of discount T-bills, placed on tender through the agency of the Romanian National Bank (BNR).
The T-bills carry a six-month maturity and the issue was awarded at an average yield of 6.99%. The weighted-average discount rate stood at 6.75%. (1 euro trades for RON 4.2).
The total value of the issue was RON 800 mn, while the total demand of the 13 participating banks in the tender accounted for RON 1.876 bn.
There submitted bids to acquire government securities 12 primary dealers - Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Banca Comerciala Carpatica (BCC), Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, ING, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
MFP has scheduled tenders in August to issue government securities worth RON 4.6 bn (over EUR 1 bn), through seven T-bills and government bonds issues.
At the end of July, as a first this year, MFP sold government securities in euros, in value of EUR 1.2 bn, three times higher compared to the programmed value, of EUR 400 mn.
In the first seven months of 2010, MFP borrowed on the domestic market more than RON 22 bn, after in 2009 it succeeded to gather almost RON 65 bn.
