Drop in new car registrations this year

The car makes Volkwagen, Skoda and Renault in July registered the most important rises in sales in Romania, between 12 and almost 32 percent, whereas 10,381 new cars were registered, down by 2.19 percent from the similar time span in 2009, say the data supplied by the Directorate for the Regime of Driving Licences and Vehicle Registration.
Over January-July 2010, 47,017 new cars were registered in Romania, down by 35.83 percent as against last year's data.
According to the above-mentioned source, in July, the registrations of Volkswagen cars increased by 31.7 percent (752 cars), of Skoda ones, 27.25 percent (1,074 cars), and of Renault, almost 12 percent (870 motorcars).
Other important increases in new car registrations were registered by Mercedes (53.1 percent), Citroen (50 percent), Opel (20.8 percent) and Nissan (84 percent).
As for the Dacia model, data point to a diminution of the number of registrations, over January-July, by 32 percent, down to 15,500 cars.
