Project in value of 183,000 euros for European citizenship promotion

The Agency for Regional Development Muntenia South is to implement next year the project called 'Involvement of citizens in Europe - Local prospects for labor force occupancy, social cohesion and steady development', with a total budget of 183,566 euros, ADR Muntenia South informs in a release.
The project is financed by the European Commission through 'Europe for citizens' programme, which is aimed at promoting an active European citizenship through the implication of civil society in the construction of a united Europe, based on historical values, on the deepening of the inter-cultural dialogue and on concepts as tolerance, solidarity, democracy, equal opportunities and mutual understanding.
The project has a 12-month span and its implementation is to be started in January 2011.
The project is focused on the adoption of a mechanism set to secure the involvement of the local development agencies and of similar organizations from several European Union member states, but also from the candidate countries, in the organization of debates on various themes, with influence upon the future policies of local development for the EU institutions.
To this end, in the period March through April 2011, ADR Muntenia South is to organize a working session attended by representatives of municipality, economic agents, citizens' representatives, employers unions, trade unions. The topics to be approached are an active European citizenship and Europeans' welfare - labor force occupancy, social cohesion and steady development, the impact of EU policies upon society.
Coordinator of this project is Barataria Island Foundation from Spain. Partners in the project are the Association of Local Agencies for Democracy - France, the Association for a European Partnership - Bulgaria, Espace Associatif de Quimper - France, the Agency for Regional Development Muntenia South - Romania and Research Center Valvasor - Slovenia.
