Turnover in industry drops in July by 7.3% from June

The turnover in the entire industry (domestic and foreign market) dropped in July 2010, in nominal terms, by 7.3 percent from the previous month, informs the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The turnover in industry grew by 7.4 percent in July 2010 from the corresponding month in 2009, and in the first seven months of the current year it increased by 10.3 percent from the similar time span last year.
The turnover in industry grew moderately in July, considering the fact that INS had previously informed that the turnover in industry on the domestic and foreign market had increased, in nominal terms, by 9.7 percent in June 2010 from May and by 17.1 percent from the corresponding month in 2009.
The turnover in industry had grown by 10.9 percent in the first six months of 2010 from the first six months of 2009.
The drop in the turnover in industry in July 2010 from the previous month occurred against the background of the decreases in the extractive industry (by 11.5 percent) and in the processing industry (by 7.1 percent).
The turnover decreased in July in all big industrial groups, in the capital assets industry there was a level by 15.2 percent lower than in June, in the durables industry the diminution being 7.8 percent, in the intermediate goods industry, 4.6 percent, in the consumer goods, 3.5 percent, and in the energy producing industry, 1.5 percent.
Between January 1 and July 31, 2010 the turnover in industry grew by 10.3 percent thanks to the 11.1 percent increase in the processing industry. The extractive industry went down by 6.2 percent.
By big industrial groups the turnover grew in the energy producing industry (19.6 percent), the capital goods industry (17.5 percent), the intermediate goods industry (11.7 percent) and the durables industry (5 percent). The consumer goods industry went down by 0.5 percent.
The data of the evolution of the turnover in industry were collected by INS from about 5,800 economic operators mainly working in industry and the maximum admitted error is plus/minus 3 percent.
