Study: Romanians rank 142nd in top of most generous people in the world
ACTMedia - 10 Septembrie 2010
Australians and Neo-Zealanders are most generous people in the world, according to 'World Giving Index', a study concerning charitable attitudes at world level.
In this classification made in 153 countries, Romania ranks the 142nd. The study revealed the fact that people are more likely to offer money when they are happy than when they are rich.
The study made by Charities Aid Foundation is based on a Gallup opinion poll on the people's charitable behaviour in 153 countries, representing about 95% of the world population.
The respondents were asked to say whether in the last month they gave money for charitable organizations/causes and to appreciate on a scale from 1 to 10 how happy their lives were. The study measured two other charitable behaviours: the time granted to volunteer work and to helping a stranger. World Giving Index combined the level of each charitable compartment in order to obtain a classification of the most generous peoples in the world (World Index Giving score expressed in percentages).
