Renault starts the technical central for trials in Titu on Wednesday
ACTMedia - 14 Septembrie 2010
Renault will inaugurate on Wednesday in Titu the technical centre for trials where the newest types of the French producer will be tested.
The inauguration was postponed for several months due to the crisis, but the first part of the project in Titu closes now, and the next will be started in the summer of 2011 when the 32 km will be ready. These tracks will recreate the conditions on different surfaces of road, to see the behaviour of the cars. At the Wednesday event there will be Patrick Pelata, the second man in Renault as well as president Basescu.
« The technical centre in Titu is essential for Dacia was the missing link as we have the competence to make cars, we have the engineering, but we lack this part of testing and validation of the cars and their parts » Jerome Olive, the head of Dacia says. Very important is the fact that RTR which has a design centre in Bucharest as well as a engineering centre – works on the new Logan generation which should come out on the market in 2012. RTR works on the Twingo and Renault Kangoo Maxi Express as well.
RTR works on adapting Duster for the production on the Russian market to start next year as there will be many parts similar to the Romanian Duster but the Russian one will have different engine and different dashboard. Moreover, the RTR centre had an important role in creating the first SUV Dacia.
The Titu project was announced in 2006 and started in 2007. It involved investment of almost half a billion euro spaced on several years, and the first stage which closed when there had been 170 million euro invested. The works were interrupted between December 2008 and July 2009 due to the crisis, but they were resumed when Renault found the money from BERD, BEI and the Romanian state.
