Valentin Lazea (BNR) : this year there came more foreign investment to services and constructions

One of the causes of budgetary deficit in Romania was represented by the structure of foreign investment, according to Valentin Lazea, head economist of the National Bank of Romania.
More exactly, the fact that investment was not in industry, in areas which could generate production but in sectors which could not generate the necessary flow in economy.
Moreover, not even after the crisis period ' the investors did not admit they made a mistake' so that in 2010 the least investment went to the industry ' despite the fact that the industry is the only sector which was alright, the other sectors had a negative increase and the companies invested in such sectors' Lazea said on the occasion of the conference ' Romania- The Future Beyond the Crisis'organized by the Association of Italian Business People in Romania – Unimpresa and the Alliance of Employers Confederations in Romania.
Investors are not to blame, Lazea said, as the state can influence the direction of investments « A recent study shows that investors go to certain sectors influenced by certain institutional factors. Although the state can influence the type of direct investment' For example, the depreciation of the foreign exchange rate influences positively the investment in certain sectors. Moreover, if the government wants to draw more foreign direct investments in industry, it must make the work market more flexible.
