Non-governmental credit rises 0.5% in August

The balance of non-governmental credit extended by credit institutions rose in August 2010 by 0.5 percent (0.2 percent in real terms) versus July 2010 to 207.667 billion lei.
As compared to the similar period in 2009, the rise stands at 4.5 percent, according to BNR data.
The lei credit diminished by 0.6 percent (minus 0.8 percent in real terms), whereas the forex credit denominated in lei rose by 1.1 percent (the euro-denominated forex credit rose by 0.8 percent).
On 31 August 2010, nongovernmental credit recorded a rise of 4.5 percent (-2.8 percent in real terms) versus 31 August 2009, due to the 8.9 percent rise in the forex component denominated in lei (in euro, forex credit rose 8 percent) and the 2 percent decrease in the lei component (-8.9 percent in real terms).
Governmental credit went down in August by 0.9 percent to 54.506 billion lei. On 31 August 2010, governmental rose 21.9 percent (13.4 percent in real terms) from 31 August 2009.
