Priority Romanian-Hungarian projects focus on energy and infrastructure

Romania and Hungary will develop common priority projects in the fields of energy and infrastructure, Secretary of State with the Romanian Economy Ministry Borbely Karoly said on Friday at the signing ceremony of a Romanian-Hungarian joint intergovernmental committee protocol.
'We were briefed on the economic situation in the two states and we discussed figures we had of the bilateral relationship. The discussions focused mainly on developing common projects in the energy and infrastructure fields,' Borbely Karoly said.
The Romanian-Hungarian joint intergovernmental committee on Friday signed an economic cooperation protocol between Romania and Hungary at the Economy, Trade and Business Environment Ministry.The document was signed by Secretary of State with the Ministry of Economy Borbely Karoly and by Secretary of State with the Hungarian National Economy Ministry Becsey Zsolt, at the fifth session of the Romanian-Hungarian joint intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation, held on Thursday and Friday in Bucharest.
The Hungarian official mentioned that motorway projects, small border crossing points, roads and railways are important for both states.'Interconnections come with new agreements and development opportunities which will help both sides in regard to energy independence and security,' Becsey Zsolt said.Economic exchanges between Romania and Hungary stood at 4.5 billion euros in 2009, representing 6.6 percent of Romania's external trade, and in the first half of 2010 they amounted to 2.6 billion euros.
