As many as 3,682 joint-stock companies with foreign contribution to the share capital were registered in Romania in the first seven months of 2010, with the value of their paid up capital standing at RON 10.139 billion (2.037 billion euros), according to centralised data with the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Most of theses companies -172 and a total capital of RON 4.591 million - were registered in July 2010 in Bucharest. Fifty-seven were registered in Ilfov County, near Bucharest, with a total capital of RON 1.056 million; 37 companies were registered in the western county of Timis, with a capital of RON 138,600 and 31 in the north-western county of Cluj, with a capital of RON 2.495 million.
Most of the foreign investors came from Italy (102). Fifty came from Turkey, 42 each from Hungary and Germany and 25 each from Spain, France and Greece.As many as 170,410 joint stocks were recorded in Romania in 1991 - July 31, 2010, with a paid up share capital of RON 88.869 billion.
