EcoMin Ariton, ambassador Cospito discuss boosting Romanian-Italian economic relations

Romania's Economy Minister Ion Ariton on Tuesday welcomed Italy's ambassador in Bucharest Mario Cospito to discuss the need to boost economic ties between Romania and Italy by encouraging and facilitating direct governmental ties and ties between the business communities of the two countries.
The Romanian Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment (MECMA) reports in a press release issued on Wednesday that Italy is ranked first among the countries of origin of investors in joint stock companies as of July 31, 2010, in terms of the number of commercial companies (29,638) with a total volume of paid up capital of 1.423 billion euros. Italy is also ranked 2nd in the ranking of Romania's foreign trade partners, with a weight of 13.29 percent in Romania's foreign trade.
As of June 30, 2010, the volume of bilateral trade was standing at 5 billion euros, up 13.92 percent from the same period of the year before. Romanian exports to Italy stood at RON 2.4 billion (up 12.38 percent from June 2009), while Italian exports to Romania stood at 2.6 billion euros (up 15.41 percent from June 2009).
