Over EUR 3.65 bn population and companies' overdue credits at September end

The total value of overdue credits of the population and companies, in lei and foreign currency, registered, in September 2010, amounts to over 3.65 billion euros (15.666 billion lei), increasing 2.4 times from September last year and 9 percent from the credits registered in August 2010, according to a report of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) (1 euro=4.27 lei).
The outstanding credits, in lei and foreign currency, amounted to 3.36 billion euros (14.366 billion lei) in August and to 1.52 billion euros (6.510 billion lei) in September.
According to the BNR data, of the total value of the population's and companies' overdue credits, 7.307 billion lei are in national currency and 8.359 billion lei represent outstanding credits in foreign currency converted in lei.
The population and the companies in Bucharest have the highest debts to banks, almost 33 percent of the overdue credits' value registered until September, the overdue credits in national currency amounting to 1.682 billion lei and the ones in foreign currency amounting to the equivalent of 3.464 billion lei.
