Romanian exports to Algeria - about USD 150 mn

Romania's exports to Algeria amounted to USD 149,940,000 in the first eight months of 2010, the largest growth occurring in the segment of chemicals, construction materials, metallurgy, machine and electric appliances, according to a release of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment (MECMA).
In the past six years, the volume of Romanian exports to Algeria increased steadily and in 2009 it recorded the highest value after 1990, of 185 million dollars respectively. In 2009, the trade with Algeria had a significant growth, including the imports, in the value of 49,66 million dollars. A number of 17 companies participated in the Romanian Romanian-Algerian Business Forum, organized on the occasion of the economic mission to Algeria and Tunisia, sent by the Ministry Economy.
Romanian companies participating in the forum are active in sectors as rail equipment and rolling stock, drilling and extraction of oil and gas, ship construction and repairs, non-conventional energy, metallic constructions with civil and industrial destination, textiles, ready made clothes and accessories, international trade.
Attending the forum were also representatives of 65 Algerian companies, local authorities, as well as industrial branches employers unions. In this context there were a series of bilateral meetings. Tender applications were received, the same as cooperation proposals for the participation in the development of infrastructure projects, included in Algeria's economic development program.
The Mission organized by the Ministry of Economy in Algeria and Tunisia is run in cooperation with CRPCIS and the Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the period between October 31 to November 5.
