Romania tips trade balance with South Africa in its favour
ACTMedia - 18 Noiembrie 2010
Romania's commercial exchanges with South Africa, even though modest at this moment, carry considerable potential for development and the balance tips in Romania's favour, vice chairman of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Sorin Dimitriu told an economic seminar here on Wednesday.
Trade between Romania and South Africa totalled 48.49 million dollars by this mid-year, with a difference favourable to Romania standing at 27.77 million dollars, said Dimitriu, who also chairs the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He made the remarks at debates on the identification of the niche opportunities in South Africa for the consolidation of the bilateral economic relations, staged by the RCCI and the South African Embassy in Bucharest.
Dimitriu announced the Bucharest Chamber organises a business mission to South Africa in early December, while the RCCI has scheduled a similar mission at the beginning of next year in cooperation with the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Climate.
South African ambassador Pieter Swanepoel unveiled figures and general information about his country's economy, while the Embassy's first secretary Michele Pietersen and economic advisor Johan Pietersen spoke of the investment opportunities their country offers the Romanian companies.
