Romania to participate with 15 companies in Berlin 'Green Week' International Exhibition

Romania will participate with 15 firms in the 76th edition of the International Exhibition for Food, Agriculture and Horticulture 'Green Week', which will be held in Berlin (Germany) from 21 to 30 January 2011, considered the biggest specialized event in the food industry and agriculture fields in Europe.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to AGERPRES, the Romanian delegation will be headed by Minister Valeriu Tabara, and the total funds allocated from the MARD and the Ministry of Culture budgets to participate with a national pavilion are in the amount of 720,000 lei (about 170,000 euros - editor's note).
'Even if we do not have a very large surface, like other European countries, we want a good representation. In addition we are to get ready, in partnership with Germany, for the 2012 exhibition, because it is an honorable status if Germany takes us as partners in the most important winter fair in the field of agriculture in Europe ', Minister Valeriu Tabara told AGERPRES.
An area of 165 square meters was allocated for the 15 Romanian companies in the field, which are to exhibit a wide range of food products, namely honey and bee products, wines, 'palinca' and other fruit brandies, cheeses, canned vegetables and fruits, milling and baking products. Also, traditional cheese producers from cow and sheep milk, Pecica 'pita' bread, processed meat products, but also wool carpets, painted with natural plant dye.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, Romania's participation in this event is an opportunity for the Romanian companies to promote the most representative food products, as well as to develop new commercial relations, with positive impact on their export growth on international markets.
The area rented and arranged by MARD for the 'Green Week' participation will be made available, free of charge, in the aim to promote Romanian traditions and the image of the Romanian agricultural and food sector.
The Agriculture Minister will attend the official opening of the exhibition, with the participation of Ilse Aigner - Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Germany and Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit, and the conference held on 22 January on 'Global Trade and Food Security: at global, regional and local levels', with the participation of the European Union agriculture ministers and the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Ciolos. As well, during the fair, the Summit of the Ministers of Agriculture will be held, the Romanian official included, who will also have a series of bilateral meetings with Ministers of Agriculture of the Member States.
In 2010 Romania was present with 12 companies in the national pavilion organized on the occasion of the 'Green Week', with a total of 1,600 exhibitors from 56 countries, displaying their products on an area of 115,000 square meters. The event organizer is Messe Berlin trade fair organizer.
