Trade volume with Moldova 15% higher

The volume of trade between Romania and Moldova grew by over 15% between January-November 2010, especially due to the increase of export volumes over the Prut river.
Romanian exports to Moldova represented 340 million dollars in the reference period, 20% more than in the same period of 2009. Romania ranks third in the export chapter to Moldova, after Russia and Ukraine, with a share of 10% of Moldova's overall imports, according to the National Statistics Office in Chisinau.
Romania is one of the main destination of Moldovan goods, with 235 million dollars in 11 months, or over 6% more than the previous year.
With 575 million dollars, Romania is the second foreign trade partner of Moldova, after Russia – 850 million dollars. Romania is followed by Ukraine with 560 million dollars and Italy – 380 million.
The exports of Moldova in 2010 represented 1,4 billion dollars and grew by 20% while imports were 3.4 billion dollars , 17% more than in 2009. The balance of trade shows a negative value of 2 billion dollars.
