Agerpres - 19 Ianuarie 2011
Government plans to simplify on ground verification procedures in the case of projects funded through the European Regional Operational Programme, following talks on Tuesday, at Victoria Palace, between Premier Emil Boc, the Regional Development and Tourism Minister, Elena Udrea, as well as other officials in charge with EU funds absorption.
According to a press release of the Government, the proposals set out in discussions at the Victoria Palace aims to accelerate the absorption of EU funds.
'The proposal refers to the verification on the ground of the respective project running after the first request for reimbursement, in the stage of 40 percent implementation of the project and at its completion, thus eliminating the verification procedure on the ground after each request for reimbursement', the Executive informs in its release.
Another measure considered by the Government is that of the reduction of the deadline for processing the reimbursement applications from 60 to 45 days.
The Executive's head also emphasized that the Government decided the adoption of some standard bidding documents for projects in the fields of transport, energy, regional development, environment, and ,subsequently, most likely in agriculture, as well.
As the absorption of EU funds is concerned, Premier Boc said that Romania has in the implementation phase, namely all European program, projects worth 10 billion euros.
'Romania can emerge quickly from recession and will have a higher growth rate, perhaps better than 1.5-2 percent announced by the European Commission, IMF and World Bank due to the absorption of European funds. (...) I urge you to prove maximum responsibility, both you, those who manage these projects as well as those with whom you work, because Romania's future also depends on our decisions from the prospect of European funds use', stressed the Prime Minister.
Premier Emil Boc asked for simplified mechanisms and red tape procedures in the aim to improve absorption of EU funds.
