MFP sells T-bills worth RON 2.5 bn

The Ministry of Public Finance (MPF) on Monday borrowed 2.541 billion lei (approximately 0.5978 billion euros) from the commercial banks, in an issue of discount T-bills, placed on tender through the Romanian National Bank.
The government securities carry a one-year maturity and the issue was adjudicated at an average yield of 6.69 percent. The weighted-average discount rate stood at 6.34 percent.
MFP planned to draw one billion lei on Monday, but it managed to borrow 2.5 times the initial amount. The total demand of the 12 banks participating in the tender accounted for 3.894 billion lei.
Twelve primary dealers submitted bids to acquire government securities: the Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, the Carpatica Commercial Bank, the Romanian Commercial Bank, the Transilvania Bank, Bancpost, the CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, the ING Bank, the Raiffeisen Bank, the RBS Romania and the UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
MFP planned in January security tenders worth 4.8 billion lei, namely six T-bill and bond issues, according to the data published on the MFP site.
