EUR 100 mn loan for Otopeni Airport development

The banking consortium made up of BRD-Groupe Societe Generale and the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) signed a 100 million euro worth loan contract for financing the Henri Coanda International Airport modernization project.
BRD, as arranger, creditor, agent and guarantee agent, and the Romanian Commercial Bank, as arranger and creditor, signed a loan contract worth 100 million euros with the Aeroporturi Bucuresti SA National Company, for finalizing phase III of the development and modernization project of the Henri Coanda International Airport at Otopeni, informs a BRD release.
This contract was awarded by open tender procedure, organized by the Aeroporturi Bucuresti SA National Company in October 2010.
The investment project is estimated at 150 million euros, the 100 million euro bank financing is granted over a 10-year period. The two banks of the consortium have contributed, as direct creditors in this structure, 50 million euros each.
The project is connected with the commitment Romania made regarding the accession to the Schengen area by implementing the appropriate airport Schengen standards, as well as with the positive evolution of passenger traffic and plans to increase the operating capacity to 6 million passengers per year concurrently with significant service improvement.
The Aeroporturi Bucuresti SA National Company is the most important air gate of Romania, founded in 2010 by the merger between the Henri Coanda Bucuresti International Airport National Company and the Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti Baneasa International Airport National Company and allows the coordinated airport infrastructure development so that it should efficiently meet the medium and long-term strategies in the aeronautic field.
