ACTMedia - 7 Februarie 2011
The gross nominal average wage earning edged up by over 485 euros (namely 2.067 lei, 1 Euro = 4.26 lei) in Dec., by 8.8 percent higher than in Nov. 2010, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) told in a release on Friday.
The same month, the net nominal average wage earning amounted to 351 euros (1,496 lei) by 119 lei (8.6 percent) more than in the previous month.
In Dec. 2010 the index of the average real wage earning stood at 108 percent compared to Nov., calculated as a ratio of the net nominal wage earning index and the consumer price index (CPI), the quoted source reads.
Compared to Oct. 1990, the index of the real wage earning amounted to 123.9 percent, by 9.3 percentage points more than the one recorded in Nov. 2010.
The INS explains the gross wage and the net wage rose in Dec. thanks to the 13th salary and to the Christmas bonuses.
A higher net average salary earning was recorded in the budgetary sector, with the exception of the education system, in the public administration, namely 14.1 percent, social welfare and health (1.6 percent), as a consequence of offering occasional rewards (including holiday bonuses) in some public institutions, the payments from other funds (for latter periods inclusive) and also by paying outstanding wages for some employees, as well as payments from other funds (meal ticket inclusive).
In the education system, the net average wage earning dropped by 3.2 percent compared to the previous month due to the hour payment of the teaching staff and also to the fact that amounts from other funds and periods were paid in Nov.
Except for the public sector, in Dec. 2010 the net average wage earning ticked up compared to Nov. 2010 throughout all economic activities, following some occasional bonuses (such as holiday bonuses and Christmas bonuses) or aid grants for the citizens, payments from other funds (including present bonuses), but also higher production amounts or higher revenues (depending on the contracts), the employees returning from their unpaid vacancies or from technical unemployment, the lay-offs of the low income personnel.
Compared to Dec. 2009, the net nominal average wage earning moved up by 1.3 percent.
The INS study was made on a sample of 25,000 social-economic units, with the margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
