Finance ministry borrowed more than EUR 353 mn from domestic market

The Ministry of Public Finance on Monday borrowed more than 353 million euros (almost 1.5 billion lei) from commercial banks, by an issue of treasury bonds with discount, put on tender through the Central Bank.
The Government bonds mature in a year and the average yield is 6.73 percent. The average balance of the discount rate was 6.3 percent.
The total value of the issue was 1.5 billion lei and the total demand from the twelve banks that took part in the tender was 4.13 billion lei.
There were twelve banks that bid for the T-bonds - Alpha Bank Romania, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Banca Comercială Carpatica (BCC), Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, ING, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
The Ministry borrowed from the domestic market more than 41 billion lei in 2010 after it drew almost 65 billion lei in 2009. The volume of loans from banks reached almost 7 billion lei.(1 euro=4.24 lei)
