ACTMedia - 9 Februarie 2011
The World Bank (WB) will disburse this year to Romania, within the new agreement, a tranche of the Development Loan Programme worth 400 million euros, for the support of the measures taken for budget expenses efficiency and for fiscal consolidation in the fields of the state budget, public sector salaries, health care, education and social assistance.
Also, a 750 million euro amount will be placed at Romania's disposal for the completion of reforms in the social assistance and public health fields, in addition of the measures supported by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Commission, said chief economist with the Romanian World Bank office Catalin Pauna.
A 430 million euro grant and specialized technical assistance will be given to the Romanian Government for the foundation of a structure for reform coordination and monitoring.
The WB will also support Romania's economic growth, by helping the Government implement the recommendations of the six evaluation reports drawn up by the WB.
According to WB chief economist for Europe and Central Asia Sudharsan Canagarajah, the World Bank is satisfied with the way Romania's economy has been stabilized, with the fact that the domestic and foreign unbalances have been reduced and market confidence has been restored.
